5 Daily Habits That Are Zapping Your Energy

Are you tired of waking up exhausted, caffeinating your way through the day and never having the energy for your people or passions... let alone eating healthy + working out?

Then this is for you.

Listen, we're not meant to run on caffeine + cortisol all day long.

This endless cycle of dragging yourself out of bed every morning, feeling anxious + overwhelmed, gaining weight, snapping at your kids + partner and just generally feeling "meh" has to end.

After working with women 1:1 for the last 3 years, I can tell you there are 5 common habits that most women have… that are absolutely wrecking your energy + metabolism.

Here are the top 5 Energy Draining Habits:

1. Inadequate Nutrition

Not prioritizing nourishing meals + relying on processed foods/quick fixes can deplete essential nutrients needed for sustained energy. Inadequate nutrition can lead to fatigue + reduced mental clarity. Relaying on protein primarily from vegan sources is also a common problem I see.

2. Consuming Too Much Caffeine

Excessive caffeine reliance disrupts metabolism, sleep, adrenal function, blood sugar balance, hydration + can lead to a reliance on stimulants.

3. Too Much/Little Movement

A sedentary lifestyle can contribute to poor circulation, muscle weakness + a lack of endorphins that can leave you feeling sluggish and drained. Too much exercise w/o proper nourishment can lead to stress on the adrenals, nervous system and metabolism.

4. Neglecting Fun, Rest + Relaxation

Neglecting proper R&R can drain energy reserves + lead to chronic stress on the body + mind. Those who don't take time to recharge + play may experience higher stress levels, disturbed sleep patterns, + diminished overall energy + well-being.

5. Low Calorie Diets/ Skipping Meals

Your body needs fuel from the food you eat. When we opt for low calorie options or skip meals all together, we force the body into conservation mode. This will slow energy production in order to preserve precious resources. When the body's energetic and caloric needs aren't met, you'll deal with:

  • Blood Sugar Imbalance: Blood sugar balance is crucial for maintaining mood stability, sustaining energy levels, and supporting optimal metabolic function. Not consuming sufficient calories will force your body to create energy from its reserves, taxing the liver and muscles in the process.

  • Nervous System Dysregulation: Regular meals and snacks provide a sense of safety for your nervous system. When the body senses it isn't receiving sufficient fuel, stress hormones kick on, slowing metabolism.

  • Nutrient Availability: Sufficient calorie intake ensures your body receives essential nutrients for neurotransmitter production, energy production, and overall metabolic function. When we don't consume enough food, the body is forced to ration nutrients, preventing growth, repair, healing and energy production.
